My focus on art started early and as I grew up, my mom was always looking for opportunities for me to meet and learn from artists. After a long drive down a dirt road, she found an opportunity for me to work at Happy Valley Pottery in Watkinsville, GA. While there, I developed a love of form, material, and the wonderful colors and textures of glazes created in a gas-fired kiln.
After starting my career in graphic design, a colleague introduced me to knitting and I found an accessible way to explore the things I loved about ceramics without all of the equipment – though both can be time consuming. Later, a neighbor introduced me to hand spinning and I found another way to explore fiber art and further customize my work.
Over the years I have met and been inspired by so many artists working with fiber, both in person and online. The community is filled with welcoming people that readily share their knowledge and enthusiasm. Much like math, there are many ways to get to the same solution, and half the fun is exploring a variety of techniques.
Here is a selection of knitting and spinning projects I’ve created over the years, inspired by the beautiful work I see out in the world.
